Forty-seven cases of suspected plant dermatitis were patch tested with extracts of various plants. Twenty-six showed positive patch tests to one or more plant antigens. Parthenium sensitivity was observed in nine cases. Trianthema monogyna, Carissa, carandus, Amaranthus viridis, Amaranthus spinosus, Euphorbia hirta, Euphorbia thymibolia, Salvia plebia, lantana camera and pennisetum typhoides were other important plants founds to be responsible for contact sensitivity. Majority of the patients were from rural areas and most of them showed exacerbation of the dermatitis during rainy season. Males and females were equally affected.

A case of naevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficilis on the left sacro gluteo-coxal area in a 25 year old male is reported because of its rarity. The clinical features and hisoopathological changes of this condition are described. The possible factors regarding its predilection to the pelvic girdle region, the various theories regarding, its pathogensis and its differentiation from focal dermal. hypoplasia syndrome and grouped lesions of macular atrophy are discussed.

Porokeratosis of Mibelli is a rare hereditary disorder of the skin, The salient features in 6 cases are described with a brief review of the relevant literature. Involvement of the mucous membranes was noted in 2 cases. The clinical picture was quite variable and some of the lesions resembled tinea corporis warts and neurodermatitis. Histologically cornoid lamella was the pathognomonic feature. An attempt is made to explain the relative rarity of this condtition in females on the basis of hormonal factors.

Localized scleroderma is an uncommon disorder. The clinical and histological features in 23 cases of localized scleroderma are presented. A rare familial instance of encoupde sabre is described. The concurrent lesions on en coupde sabre and discoid lupus erythematous in a 16 years female is reported. It is felt important to differentiate between the facial hemiatrophy associated with en coup de, sabre and Romberg's syndrome (progressive facial hemiatrophy).

2.54 percent of patients attending the dermatology clinic were found to have neurodermatitis circumscripta. Twenty adult male patients with the disease who were p educated at least u to high school were p subjected to detailed psychological testing. They were administered 10 cards of TAT Sinha's anxiety scale,- self-rating depression scale of Zung and Wechsler adult intelligence scale tests. AU the patients were found to have high IO levels. Anxiety of a very high degree was observed in 55.8 percent of the patients. Anxiety levels were high in patients who were eldest in the family. Sixty five per cent of patients showed high degree of depression, which was more apparent in the younger age group. Patients with first and second ordinal position were more depressed. No relationship was found between the disease and the financial and cdcational status, duration and extent of disease and 1.Q., anxiety or depression levels. Need (n) affifiation and (n) achievement were the two most dominant needs expressed.

A clwco- mycological study of 130 cases of dermatophytoses undertaken during a period of I year is reported. The age and sex incidence, the clinical varieties. land the seasonal variations are analysed. The infection was predominantly seen in the age group of 11-50 years. Men were more commonly affected. Tinea glabrosa (89.249o) was the commonest clinical type encountered, followed by tinea capitis (6.93%). AR the cases were positive by direct microscopic examination and the different species of dermatophytes isolated from 66 out of 130 patients by culture, are analysed. Trichophyton rubrum was the predominant species (81.820/o) isolated and the other species isolated were E.floccosum (9.09%). T violaceum (4.54%), M. audouini (3.03%) and T.mantagrophytes (1.51%).

Acne vulgaris causes much emotional trauma, social embarrassment and cosmetic disfiguration in teenage girls and boys. The multifactorial etiology, pathogenesis and clinical features of this condition are narrated. The mechanism of comedo formation is briefly discussed.
