Aetiology of Recurrence of Penile Warts by Tube Leucocyte Adherence Inhibition Technique
Kuniitr Swapan Saha, Kumar Arun Ghosh, Kumar Ajit Dutta
March-April 1988, 54(2):127-131
The presence of cellular immunity against penile warts was examined by the tube leukocyte adherence inhibition (T-LAI) assay Peripheral blood leukocyte (PBL) from, six patients with penile warts--gave a positive reaction with the antigens prevaked from the whole extract of penile warts but not with the antigen prepared from normal penile skin. Adherence of PBL from normal donors did not differs significantly irrespective t)f whether the ant' ns, were from warts normal penile ago, skin. All 6 patients respon c we I to an antigenic extract of warts. LAI reactivity' diminished at the first month after removal of growth and gradually reappeared by the second month of removal and never declined till the third month follow up. This indicates some possible reason of recurrence of penile warts.

Evaluation of Two Regimens of Multidrug Therapy in Multibacillary Leprosy ( a Preliminary Report)
Antonio Grugni, J Nitin Nadkarni, S Manjunath Kini
March-April 1988, 54(2):86-89
A comparative evaluation of 2 regimens of multidrug therapy ( IAL modification and the original W'HO regimen) in multibacillary leprosy is presented. Patients were given MDT till the point of clinical and bacteriological inactivity. It was found that the IAL regimen confers a statistically significant advantage in patients with a. hi er initial BI (more than 2), as far as bacteriological inactivity is concerned. In patients with a lower initial BI, both regimens were equally effective. Side effects and lepra reactions were within reasonable limits with both the regimens, We feel that the LAL modification of the WHO regimen should be used in multibacillary leprosy, especially in cases with a high initial Bl. The higher Proportion of cases rendered negative- compensates the slight increase in the cost

The left submandibular group of lymph nodes were enlarged, non-tender and matted. Aspiration cytology showed eptihelioid cells, lymphocytes, polymorphs and eosinophils.
