Twenty cases of vesiculo-bullous dennatoses were examined. Histopathological examination was done in all but a few cases. In majority of the conditions, biopsy findings based on histopathological examination are in agreement with clinical diagnosis. The importance and the diagnostic significance of paper electrophoresis was discussed with a review of the literature. Increase in alpha, and gamma globulin is said to be found in acute and chronic infections, even though this feature was noted in epidermolysis bullosa and in erythema multiforme. In pemphigus there is low level of all fractions of proteins. The importance of further research in this field, particularly in large number of similar entities keeping in view the stage of the vesicles is stressed to arrive at a firm and useful conclusion.
